When Norman and I met, we talked about running a B&B and perhaps a campsite. After getting married in 2007 and relocating to Wales in 2009, we’ve done all that we’d planned – and more!!
We’d discussed the possibility of hosting weddings when we were house-hunting, and once we found Gwaenynog it was a definite possibility – but it was Norman’s daughter that kicked us into getting it done because a relaxed festival wedding was exactly what she wanted herself. We got licensed fairly quickly for her wedding in 2014, as she was the first; then immediately started getting calls to view our location – before we’d even advertised or made any enhancements to the barn! After that first ‘trial wedding’ we set up a new company called “Mid Wales Events”; initially to manage events at Gwaenynog (separate to the B&B and Campsite business), but quickly expanded it to include general event management and offsite equipment hire.
There’s been many changes at Gwaenynog since then, with enhancements and improvements to the site and barn, and the facilities we’re able to offer. We’ve hosted parties for locals as well as weddings, and in 2019 we’ll be offering glamping options for the first time.
Hopefully, this website will tell you a lot about what’s possible here. We continually reinvest in facilities and services, so it may already be in our plans – you only have to ask if we’ve not covered it! We’re very relaxed about accommodating your ideas and will try to incorporate them into your very own festival wedding weekend at Gwaenynog.
